When Local Neros played cricket

Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 10:23 pm

Many of us have read and heard that when Rome was burning , Nero was busy in fiddling. This  works perfectly well for our politicians and rulers as well..

Today while coming back from old Mohalla after hair cutting, I found so many security personals who had actually seized the roads who were going to Asghar Ali Shah Stadium. I could not figure it out at all since I was in car. I shrugged off and moved on by assuming that “Kuch Garbarh Hay”. When I entered in Hyderi area, I found almost all shops closed. Now I got a bit worried since I was supposed to meet my friends tonight(the party got canceled due to other reasons and is expected tomorrow,Insha Allah). A while back I saw GEO Sports which was telecasting some LIVE cricket match. I was bored so I started watching it and within few seconds I saw our dearest Governor, Mr.Ishratul Ibad was playing a stroke and smiling. I understood the whole scene that why the area was seized by the security officials. After watching it further I foundout that that the match is being played between Governor’s XI and Chief Minister XI(CM is not young enough to take part therefore Zulfiqar Mirza might be leading the team. Everyone was enjoying as if all problems of Karachi/Sind has been sorted out, citizens are happy and giving duas to our honest and “Khuda Tars” leaders and there is no law and order issue in Karachi. I was just surprised at the height of ignorance. These officials are busy in cricket while a guy was killed last night at Pak Colony,Nazimabad and they are busy as if nothing happened, just like Nero.

I have no issue with cricket or playing cricket. It’s their right. Being a Pakistani I love cricket too but naturally I can’t play cricket or any other game while busy at work. These people are our rulers and they do have responsibility to take care of things which they are supposed to sort out but here, at North Nazimabad, the entire Sind govt is busy in cricket and I am sure they would have made life hell of the residents of B,P and W Block by installing Rangers here and there since the area is surrounded by Pathan population and MQM goons are already up against Pathans. My friend lives in De Silva Town which is pretty much near to the stadium and he did face difficulty to reach home.

There should be a limit of Beyhisi and Ignorance. Why there is no fear of God? The match is still on and they have been enjoying as if they have done nothing wrong. As if they were made to rule over us or as if nothing can go wrong by them. Karachi is in peace and every citizen is smiling. I don’t understand at all. Don’t forget! they are they people who have placed black banners every where to show the love for the Hawa Ki Beti who was flogged in Tribal area.  What kind of mourning it is? why are they not crying for the girl who was flogged? were they going to feel for their own daughters and sons? will they be busy in cricket when someone will die at their homes? I don’t know , May be because,  everything is fair in war, love and politics. When I see such rulers, I am forced to look back to a ruler who once said:

If a goat or dog dies due to hunger on the bank of Euphrates River, Umar will be sole representative in the Day of Judgment before Allah Almighty

These were the words by the one of the most successful, pious and God fearing ruler Omar Bin Khattab(RA) who was shivering due to fear of God though He was one of those Sahabas(RA) who were already given glad tidings of Jannah in their live. Oh but wait…. How could we talk about Omar(RA) or Shariah? after all it’s not compatible with Modern world! What is actually compatible we have already been witnessing here in North Nazimabad and on TV.

Enjoy the show and celebrate your ignorance.

  1. bhai Adnan, unfortunately, the affairs of the ruling-elites are pathetic. They are the lowest of the low and the daily misery and frustration of the average folks does not concern them. On the other hand, this state of affairs will continue as long as the masses continue to have “I care less” type of attitude. Once the masses started to do good deeds with a strong Eman and rise up as they have done in our other countries and kick these scumbags off their high pedestal, things might begin to change insha’Allah for the better.

  2. quite unfair the nero comparision

i mean it’s something akin to celebrity matches, and unfortunately our celebrities are politicians, and our entertainment is politics. so its inevitable. plus, be a bit realistic. it’s not like politicians, or elected officials, can only have fun once every single problem in the country has been solved.

do you think that even the Caliph Hazrat Umar (RA) never once did something out of fun while caliph?

  3. khatmal: you thick hard .. I mean..where on earth I said that playing is Haram? read again… The country is getting screwed and these Rulers, the democratic one are so ignorant about whole situation.

You probably have not read about Omar(RA) and other companions. Offcourse they used to play games but then these were the people who used to stay up whole night and keep guarding their awam and used to serve them without even knowing them. Omar(ra) and Abu Bakr(RA)and them Usman and Ali(ra), all these caliphs knew their responsibilities and they used to fulfill first.

Are you saying that Pakistan is not suffering major problems? Omar was even worried about a dog. Are you saying that the area where stadium exists is free from all issues or MOST of the issues. there is poor pathan population in that area who have been suffering for long time. Does that feel good that awam is suffering from loadsheding and poverty and our awam are busy in sports? where is the sense of responsibility??

  4. Very True Adnan… they have same strategy like Roman emperor.. when people are confused about thier characters, they oragnised fun mellas, concerts, fireworks, cricket matches etc.. and mostly teenagers and women attained these kind of things..

I feel pain for this poor farmer and his family, but our gandoo sadar only took notice after his death.

May Allah curse these governers, presidents and chiefminsiters and their clans, Ameeen.

  6. The girl was flogged in Swat, and not in the Tribal areas. She was flogged by the Taliban with the cooperation of Army. Such incidents will increase in the future. There’s nothing the politicans can do about it. I hold General Kayani responsilbe for the flogging of that little girl. Kayani was never interested in elimiating those fake taliban. The politicans (of ANP mostly) had no other choice but to make a peace agreement with the terrorists who first blew up more than 200 schools, and then beheaded people publicly, and then reached their climax by flogging girls in public.

Those terrorists of Swat are like the British. First they took over Swat in the name of Islam (Trade), and then slowly and gradually they will take over the whole country. Time is near when our Army Chief will be Baitullah Mehsud and the DG of ISPR will be Muslim Khan.

    Damn you General Kayani!

Adnan: How was the big day, by the way? Did you wear the tie? You were quite excited about it. :P

  7. There’s only one guy who cares about the people of Pakistan: Imran Khan. I salute him.

  8. And Adnan: Please replace the “We protest against the US attacks on Pakistan” banner with “We must retaliate against the US attacks on Pakistan”. The word “Protest” is the worst word ever coined. You have no idea how much I feel embarrassed when I use this word.

  9. About the video… leave it,, is it true or fake… first tell me is it not the ALLAH`s law??? why are we protesting??? please guys as muslim think over it.. its ALLAH`s Law and has already mentioned in Quran so are you gonna deny it?? save your aqeedah .. we cannt be muslim anymore without believing completely on Quran..

Some say the punishment for adultery according to the Qur’an is noted in Surah 24 (An-Núr), Verse 2:

“ The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment. „
    —Qur’an

  10. @Kis_Kis_Ko_Ro-oegey

You have written a bad word in your comments, I would suggest please remove it. If you are talking about Islam, Deen or Allah its not wise to use it in combination with strong words.

May Allah bless all of us in both worlds, ameen!

  11. Was that you who made the video and sent to Samar MinAllah? How sure you are? that video was even more flopped than any LollyWood movie?

I am all for peace/whatever deal. SWATis has right to follow their own local rules. We as a democratic nation should accept their will.

Regarding Banner, I just linked it..i have not made it at all

  12. @Zera: The girl was flogged for refusing to marry a talib, and not for adultery.

@Adnan: “SWATis” attacked our security forces. They destoryed government properties. They killed innocent non-Swatis. They defamed Pakistan. They destroyed more than 200 schools built by the government of Pakistan.

Adnan, yes, the swatis have a right to follow their own local rules, but those rules should be local. Unfortunately, they are not. Their rules affect the entire Pakistan.

Adnan, we cannot allow our enemies to breed in own backyard. Please, stop deceiving yourself. It’s not a peace deal. It’s a breeding-deal.

Adnan: Which country’s passport will those Swatis use when they want to go to a foregin country? Pakistan’s? If yes, then I expect them to behave like Pakistanis.

Oh and by the way, adnan, the Swatis refused to accept Pakistan and the constitution of Pakistan. I live in Peshawar and there are so many Swatis in our college. From now on I have decided to refer to them as “traitors, or “terrorists”, or “mohajirs”, or “sadists”. I will use all these names.

  13. @RR: You are infected by today`s big fitnah. ( your info is so weak)
secondly you called sawatis.. its smell like your priority is cast not islam.. in
third one… the slogan ” sub sey pehlay pakistan” its totally wrong..
Sub sey pehlay islam then others.. even your parents..
we all are muslims first.. and about schools there were army who were camped.. and there are many others gangs working by using the name “taliban”.
Note: Talibans are not only sawatis..

its being a big game to ruin islam.. but INSHALLAH the game will be END with the victory of Islam…
